About The New Evangelization Team (NET)
The New Evangelization Team (NET) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore was set up in 1986 in response to the Holy Fathers’ reminder that all lay Catholics must participate in the urgent task of evangelization. The Church was born through evangelization and evangelization is its mission proper.

The Catholic Church has been likened to a sleeping giant. For too long, evangelization was seen as the responsibility of priests and nuns – not any longer!

NET endeavours to awaken, encourage and form Catholics for this important mission. It is a Catholic effort to provide formation to nurture disciples with a spirituality and skills for the mission of evangelization.

The world needs to know not only about God’s love, but to be able to experience this love which is extended to all. It is the responsibility of all NETters to not only share Christ, but to be Christ in the world.

NET School

... that shows the way not just for our community/family but the world" - This was the challenge posed by our Spiritual Director, Sr. Theresa Seow to the participants of NET19 as they kicked off the module on Evangelization on 28 Jan 2010 with Prayer Walk.

During the briefing on Prayer Walk by one of our founders, Diana Koh explained why a Prayer Walk has been included in the Evangelization course.  Diana emphasized that "we do not, we cannot, evangelize in a vacuum.  In some instances, we can evangelize directly, but in most instances, we can only pray for those who need evangelization, who need God in their lives, in their practices, in their policies".  And Diana added, "this is School of Evangelization and evangelization is our business!"

For as long as NETers can remember, we have taken that passage from Luke 5:10b ”I will make you fishers of men" as our personal mandate - that we are to catch "fish" for the Lord, so to speak.

At one of the talks during Ms Margaret Silf's sojourn in Singapore (Margaret is author of many spiritual books based on Ignatian spirituality, books such as Landmarks), she shared what someone said to her about that particular scripture passage.

About Our Logo

The NET logo is Asian in design and was actually painted by a Chinese calligrapher.

The WATER-MARK symbolizes the Holy Spirit and is roughly shaped like the Tau. The Tau has exactly the same form as the cross on which our Lord was crucified on Calvary.

And only those will be marked with this sign and will obtain mercy, who have mortified their flesh and conformed their life to that of the Crucified Saviour." We in NET should be reminded that it represents our life of conversion and metanoia.

Sharing by John Lee

I am a member of the Prayer and Worship team of the NET School of Evangelisation. It is almost a ritual that we would go for ‘teh tarik’ fellowship after every Prayer & worship session. The casual coffee shop talk would inevitably lead up to the sharing of our daily experience/encounter with our Lord. In fact, these the tarik sessions are slowly turning into friendship bonding and more importantly spiritual growth sessions.

In one of these sessions, a member was asked by her non Catholic friend, whom she is trying to evangelise, “How could Jesus’ dying on the cross give his mother to us? More over, he only gave her to the Beloved Disciple!”
