Massage Therapy

April 15th, 2012 | Posted by admin in Discipleship | Latest News - (0 Comments)

NET 17 –  In the year  2006, as one of the outreach items planned for the elderly at the Lions Befrienders’ Home at Ang Mo Kio Blk 328 void deck, Lydia Chung initiated and trained a few keen netters the art of massaging in a gentle way, using base oil and essential oil.

Lydia holds a Diploma in Swedish aroma theraphy.

Instead of just one- off affair, she made arrangement for anyone interested to carry on with the basic skill acquired to benefit the inmates in St. Joseph Home at Jurong West, as most of them are in their 70’s and 80’s, are wheelchair bound. In this way what you have learned is not wasted.

Each inmate you spent about 15 to 20 minutes and while doing the massaging you also can do evangelization.

Dear Benefactors and friends,

Grace and peace!

On behalf of all the sisters of the community of the Daughters of Saint
Paul in Kenya, I would like to express our deep gratitude and thanks to
your kind and generous contribution (in varied ways) to the building fund
for our new house of formation, just recently completed.  Attached are some
photos of Gabriella House, named after Sr Gabriella Marcazzan, fsp, an
Italian Daughter of St Paul who gave her life to the missions. Our young
sisters who are studying Theology have just moved in and are now residing
there. Their college is within walking distance from the house and with
much joy and thanks, they would also like to express their deep gratitude
to each of you for contributing to the building of this house.

God bless you abundantly,
Sr. Wendy Ooi, fsp

Are you fossilized?

January 28th, 2012 | Posted by admin in Missions - (0 Comments)

Some gems from three great lay persons on evangelization.

Mr Terry Barber has over 30 years of evangelization experience said: “If we don’t evangelize, we will fossilize. We must remember to share our faith or we will lose it.”

He is convinced that once you let God fill you with FIRE and DESIRE, you will be “evangelizing without even trying.”

“There are two sides to the Church’s entire mission: evangelization and the establishment of the Church to lead people to Christ .” (more…)

Day of recollection

January 11th, 2012 | Posted by admin in Course Update | Latest News - (0 Comments)

The current batch of NET 20 had three sessions conducted by the Cenacle sisters in Dec. 2011 on the following topics: 1) Prayer 2) Relationship with God 3) Day of Recollection The Day of Recollection with the Cenacle sisters was held at The Choice Retreat House at 47 Jurong West St. 42 on 11th Dec. 2011, Sunday. We are reminded again that  prayer is not just one-way communication with God as we  need to listen attentively to His Words from our hearts. At all times, we should try to set up a private space for God physically (Ideally during our prayer time, have a small cross, bible and a lit candle in your room.)  and spiritually. The day of recollection allows to reflect who is Christ in our life.

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — The Vatican and other Christian representatives have
issued a series of recommendations for evangelization in multifaith
societies, rejecting aggressive or coercive methods but defending the right
to profess, propagate or change one’s religion.

Just sharing some thoughts…

July 27th, 2011 | Posted by admin in Latest News - (0 Comments)

It  was indeed a very memorable, wonderful and loving experience for me to run the N20 EE at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament last week end, 23rd and 24th July 2011.  It reminded me of the beautiful story “The Footprints” whereby our loving and gracious Lord was carrying me very closely in his arms throughout my ups and downs….
